  Racks Recovered
One In Custody, One Still At Large
2/05/02
Josh Walgen of Carrolton, MO was arrested today in connection with the robbery at Brookes Taxidermy in Norborne Missouri.  One accomplis is still being saught.  Martin Brookes of brooks Taxidermy was called in to identify the stolen mounts and antlers.  Boooks said he thinks most all of the property was recovered.

The case broke somewhere around the 21st of January when a Kirksville taxidermist reported some suspicious racks that were brought into his shop for trade in services.  The Kirksville taxidermist had been forwarned directly by me and by the local conservation agent Marsha Jones who had recieved a mass email from the agent in the Norborne area.

This web page was used to identify some of the recovered racks.  The MSIN is proud to have played a part in the recovery of these symbols of great hunts and great deer.

Hello, My name is Shannon Bedford.  I live in Excelsior Springs, MO and I am hoping that you may be able to help or offer advise or maybe someone may read this and may have some information.
This November I shot and killed my first deer.  He was a beautiful 10 point buck with an approx. spread of 21-23 inches. (Notice the broken drop tine on the right side.) I was so excited and took this to Brooke's Taxidermy in Norborne, MO to be mounted.  I just received a call from them saying that someone broke into their business on Tuesday night (Dec. 11th) and stole my antlers and about 20 others.  I cannot explain how upset I am over this and am hoping that you may be able to help in any way.
They felt that whoever did this was in it for the reselling of these items.  I have no idea where the market may be for this type of thing and am really hoping that someone out there has maybe heard something.  Please reply to me as soon as you can and I want to thank you in advance for your time and help.
Sincerely,
Shannon

The Missouri Sportsmen's Information Network will be posting more of the photos of the racks stolen in this robbery as we get them.  The Missouri TIP (Turn In Poachers) program will probably offer a reward for information in this case because the thieves are probably poachers also.

Currently a total of $2,500 is being offered as a reward for solving this case.
