Two of the five gobblers that were putting on a show

Hey Allen I finally got out with the camera. This is a still
image taken from video shot with my XL1. Not the best of what I got
but, a couple good strutters. There were five in this group.
I think they were a little lonely. April 10, 2002. Just a few
days till Youth season. Looking like it is going to rain us out in
north Missouri. Let's hope the weather man is wrong.
I will try to capture some more to show off. |

I have a little work to do to perfect the video still capture and color
corection. For those of you wanting to do professional vidoe work
The whole series here would have turned out better if I had done a white
ballance when I sat down. I have not been too happy with the automatic
white ballance on the XL1, but using the manual white ballance is often
not easy to do in the field. I am in the process of making a translucent
plate I can hold in front of the lens and get a manual white ballance quickly,
accurately and easily in hunting situations. I am not sure my camera
is functioning corectly when it comes to automatic white ballance.
It has never been satisfactory from the very begining. |
