A special thanks to Camoclad for sponsoring the MSIN.

This Van is currently FOR SALE!  It could make someone a nice hunting and fishing truck with plenty of room to bring all the gear.  The motor runs good, there is a problem with the tork converter in the transmission.  The van is driveable but needs the transmission worked on or replaced.  I am only asking $500.00 fot it so you might want to park it on you land and make a great deer blind out of it.  The camoclad is in pretty good shape still.  CALL ME at 660-341-0527 if you have any interest.

The Camoclad Camo Van Story

The first time I ever saw a vehicle covered in Camoclad I just about wrecked my own vehicle to stop in and get a better look. I had always thought it would be cool to have a hunting and fishing rig done in camo. Here in Kirksville there has always been one or two rolling around town. Mostly backyard do-it-yourself projects done with a case of spray-paints in various colors.
I had always thought how cool it would be to cover things with a real commercial camo pattern, rather than just using spray paint and designing your own. I even got some commercial mounting adhesives and used it to stick camo cloth material to a couple of my deer stands. It worked, but it would have a limited life span in many applications. That is why I was so excited when I saw a whole 1-ton dually pick-up covered in Mossy Oak Break Up.
The MSIN camo van was quite a job to complete. The van is an ‘80’s Chevy that was in pretty good shape for its age. It had a few small rust holes around the rear wheel wells that I patched with bondo before I started. It also had some surface rust spots that I sanded then painted. I also gave the whole van a quick wet-sand job with very fine sand paper because most of the paint was rough and oxidized. I probably did not need to be so concerned with all the prep, but I wanted to do it right so the Camoclad would have a good surface to stick to.
The Camoclad arrived from the UPS man and I was ready to go. The final prep for the surface was a quick rub down with lacquer thinner, and then I was ready to peel and stick. I read all the instructions, tips and tricks in the manual that came with the materials and started in on the reformation.
It didn’t take me long to realize that it wasn’t as easy as it looked. The first two sheets of the material took me most of a day to get the way I wanted. Of course this was my very first experience with Camoclad and I got quite a bit faster by the time I got all around and up n’ down the van. There is a lot of surface to cover on a full size van!
Camoclad has been on the van for over a month now, and I love the way it looks. Getting the material on it was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it. The camo van does turn some heads now and draws attention to the MSIN signs on the side of it. I get a lot of people asking about it.

Should you Camoclad your vehicle or your boat by yourself? It would definitely depend on your level of patience. I think anyone can do it, it’s not hard to get good results. It is however, a very meticulous process so if you don’t like doing things like that, it might be a better idea to have it done by one of the many dealers that Camoclad has. You can find a dealer by checking out Camoclad.com website or by giving them a call.
I love my Camoclad camo van. It dressed up an old van that wasn’t very appealing before. Now if I could just convert it to 4wd I would really have something. Maybe a project for next year!
